Description:
This is a department of general medicine which deals with a particularly wide spectrum of chronic diseases. In addition, many patients with severe life-threatening diseases like CVA, coronary diseases, pulmonary edema and embolism, severe metabolic states, and patients who need mechanical ventillation are treated as well. Our main interests are pulmonary diseases, mainly those which involve the respiratory muscles, and hepatic diseases.
We also conduct a general out-patient clinic and a chronic-hepatic-diseases clinic.

We perform many procedures in the department, which include needle biopsy of the liver, bone marrow aspiration and biopsy, pleural punctures, lung functions as well as many others. In addition, the department maintains an extensive research program in the areas of pulmonary and hepatic medicine.
