Description: The Institute of Child Development and Neurology has been in operation for the last 18 years. It serves a population of 250,000 people. The institute provides diagnostic and treatment services for all children with Developmental Delay, including children with problems in a variety of areas, such as: motor, language, cognition, learning, emotional and conduct disorders. It also deals with children that have physical, mental and neurological handicaps. An extensive follow up is conducted of each child treated in the institute. The staff consists of multi-disciplinary professionals, that specialize in providing high quality diagnosis and treatment for the child and his family. The intervention modality is comprehensive, highly structured and is multi-faceted. It includes active interaction together with the parents and in the child's own educational setting, including all participants in the community, who take part in the treatment of the child. The services are available with a referral from the attending physician, respective to all major medical insurance agencies, or by request from institutions such as Social Security, local towns, the Kibbutzim's Union, kindergartens and school systems. In addition, a request may be submitted through childrens' organizations, such as: Aki''m, Ali''n and Nitsa''n. The solicitation for services can also be done by any citizen at large.
