The Newborn Nursery:
All doctors and nurses in the department care for all normal newborn babies. They clean the babies, examine them and initially care for them immediately after birth. When the mother first comes to take her child, identification is made and she receives initial instructions on how to feed and care for her baby. The unit's main function is taking care of the newborn babies, but more important, teaches the mother the first steps of true motherhood.

The Premature Babies Unit:
In addition to the prematurely born infants, this unit treats newborns who are very sick. The baby with the lowest birth weight treated at HYMC weighed less than 500 gr.; the largest one reached 5,900 gr. Our devoted staff of doctors and nurses takes care not only of the babies, but their families as well.
