Description:
The Institute of Radiology & Imaging receives in-patients, as well as ambulatory patients, treated by the medical center in coordination with the department doctors and family doctors, respectively. In addition, we perform certain examinations, such as CT scans, in accordance with special arrangements made with the various medical care corporations.
Upon admittance, the patient must submit either a request from the department doctor or a referral and a ''tofes 17'' from his family doctor. Reception then opens a file for him and the secretary asks him to sit and wait to be called for the examination. After the examination is done, the patient must wait again until the radiologist sees the results and writes out his findings.
In special examinations, (CT, one requiring an injection, or an abdominal examination) the patient must fast before arriving.
Routine activities take place daily in all the various fields of medical imaging, including invasive vascular and non-vascular radiology.
We have some of the most modern equipment existing in the world today, which includes:
1. An Elscint CT TWIN FLASH scanner with a separate OMNI-PRO work station for reconstruction of angiography procedures
2. A special operating-type room for angiography procedures, with full angiography functions and the ability to digitally store images on a Philips MULTIDIAGNOST - 3 laser-disk; many types of invasive endo-vascular operation-related procedures take place in this room
3. Ultra-sonographic examinations with Diasonics VST MASTER SERIES color Doppler take place daily, allowing a broad spectrum of venous and arterial examinations; deep venous thrombosis (DVT) evaluations of the legs are a routine examination requested by the Emergency Room, being the examination of choice in negating this common disease
4. A fluoroscopy room, in which various examinations are performed, such as: standard fluoroscopic procedures, endoscopic retrograde cholangio procedures (ERCP), uro-radiology, etc.
5. The fluoroscopy room is now being converted to a digital R&F room, using a Medivision high-resolution SPOT VISION 1000 device, linked to a powerful large-memory laser camera, saving considerable fluoroscopy times and increasing the turn-over of patients; also, new applications, such as: evaluation of the bowel motility, swallowing and defecographies
6. Three conventional fully-equipped X-ray rooms
7. The CT, US, digital fluoroscopy and angiography rooms all transfer images to a central laser camera
8. A BV-29 C-ARM fluoroscopy device, used in the Operating Room
9. Ten mobile X-ray machines and two televisions, for examining patients in their beds in the various hospital departments
The department was given recognition for internship in Diagnostic Radiology by the Scientific Council of the Israeli Medical Association.
